I stopped into Calgary for the Stampede and needed a quick bite before heading to the grounds. Ladybug cafe was not far from where we were staying and was highly recommended by our friends.
Parking was a breeze as well as getting a table. We chose to sit outdoors as the weather was unusually warm this time of year.
The food and service here were excellent. The staff was super friendly and the food came out very quickly. We tried both new items on the menu - the breakfast wrap and the French toast. Both were excellent.
If you are ever craving brunch this side of town, definitely stop in Ladybug for some delicious local fresh food.

A family friendly place for brunch in SW Calgary! This establishment has become a staple and an easy place to get together with friends or family on the weekends. It is hard to get a table because it is busy!
Food is fresh and delectable.
Crepes are easily enjoyable with generous amounts of toppings.
My favourite is the Tokyo Hot Chicken Sandwich! Delicious and never disappointing! The avocado toast here is also fresh and excellent portion.
It has been around for awhile and ownership changed over the last few years but it has maintained it’s excellent quality.
We did have the Butternut Squash soup which was a bit sweeter than expected, but that may be a preference thing.
Well done Ladybug! Please keep it up!

We all have bad days, but it is what we do after these bad days that truly defines us and our businesses.
The first time I came here, Lady Bug had this said "Bad Day" (check lower down after this current revision).
I came for a second time and am pleased that I did!
We came on a Sunday morning and found it to be even more bustling than the last time we were here. There was one table open so we grabbed it.
Soon after sitting down we were greeted by a lovely young lady with a sincere smile.
We ordered 2 Lattes and the avocado toast with a side of chicken soup 🍲 which is perfect on a chilly Sunday morning.
The Lattes came out quickly and we're fantastic!
The avocado toast was scrumptious and my favorite was the chicken soup! The large chunks of chicken, potatoes and carrots were so delicious. I want to get a larger bowl of it next time.
Christine is the local owner and it is obvious that she has full buy in from her staff. She is obviously a good leader. I hope I get the opportunity to meet her too.
Previous (First time is next)
The Latte here is good and made with care.
The atmosphere is excellent here! The display of baked goods and the bright open concept dining area is really conducive to have a friendly chat with someone over coffee and a meal.
The service was quite slow. To the point that we thought that we needed to go to the counter to order and were told no it is table service here. The server was a kind person, but seemed to be a little in over her head.
The Salmon Eggs Benedict were exquisite, but where the 3 on 5 for the food comes from is the children's menu. It is not made the same as the main menu food here. The cheese burger 🍔 for kids tastes like a corner store microwaved burger. My kid who loves burgers wouldn't finish it. That causes a problem when kids won't eat because they get restless and make the rest of the table uncomfortable. Please put the same work into the kid's items as you do the main items. It makes a huge difference in the enjoyment of the adults in the dining room.

Came here with my family a lot as a kid, and I’m so glad it’s still doing well! Went back today for the first time in years and shared the breakfast veg bowl and one of the sweet crepes with my husband. Both were delicious and we were pretty full afterwards. We loved the country bread so much that we bought two loaves! I noticed kids using Boogie Boards to doodle on while waiting for their food and thought that was such a great idea to have at a restaurant. It was pretty busy so it was slightly tricky to get around the tables at times, but that’s just how it is when a business is so popular! Waiters were very kind and attentive too. I think I recall the crepes having a mint leaf and a little candy ladybug on top when I was younger but maybe I imagined it? Was hoping for that again, but no worries, still enjoyed it all :-)

I traveled to Calgary and my friend recommended this café for brunch. It was very good. The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu offered a variety of brunch options; we ordered the Ladybug breakfast bowl and roasted chicken and waffles. Both dishes were good, especially the roasted chicken and waffles. The atmosphere was also pleasant, making it a great spot for brunch.
