☕🥐 What started as a random café hunt turned into one of my favorite discoveries in town!
Fawkes Café & Bakery has such a lively and welcoming ambiance that makes you want to stay and enjoy the experience. The coffee was excellent, and the food was even better. The avocado sandwich was one of the freshest and most delicious I’ve ever had, and the pastries were absolutely mouth-watering. 🥑✨
Everything felt fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor. I left feeling genuinely happy with both the food and the overall vibe. Looking forward to coming back again soon!

Only yesterday evening I discovered Fawkes Café, a new gem reminiscent of 1912 on Whyte, which has quickly captured my heart. The cafe's spacious, heritage building hosts a welcoming, diverse crowd, creating a vibrant atmosphere that resonates deeply with me. I shared a memorable encounter with Ken and Troy, two friendly souls connected to the Mars and Venus store on Whyte, who bonded with me over metal music and local stories. Troy’s long friendship with Ken, dating back to their teenage years, impressed me, as did the café’s inclusive vibe
The bathroom left a lasting impression, a unique detail that echoes the building’s rich history—one you’re eager to learn more about despite the cold weather that kept me from reading the placard outside. I plan to visit Mars and Venus soon to pick up some incense, continuing your connection to this vibrant community. 1912 will be visited too and v happy to Have Fawkes downtown #YEG given Remedy closed!!
The heritage building that houses Fawkes Café is indeed the historic Great West Saddlery Building on 104 Street in Edmonton. This heritage structure adds to the café’s unique charm and atmosphere, complementing the dark academia aesthetic and old-world vibe that the owners, Jorel and Mikayla Pepin, have cultivated since opening in November 2024. The vintage taps in the bathroom are a lovely detail that reflects the building’s character and history

The donuts here are to die for and the decor vibes are unmatched! We have only been here twice so far, but finding out that their lobby area is dog friendly was also such a game changer. Being able to bring along our pup, especially on cold days, is a major win.

While not on my original itinerary, I am SO happy I popped in. I walked by it originally, then when I wasn’t sold on my dinner location’s dessert, I came back here !
You will find yourself transported into what I can describe as a Vintage Luxe coffee shop. It’s cozy, it’s thrifty and i’ts history. WOW are their treats good.
I sat on a very comfortable brown leather couch and enjoyed a Toasted Coconut Cream Roll ($7.95) and an apple cider ($5). The cream roll is dairy free, nut free and vegan! I actually didn’t notice until I looked back at the description. It was massive, soft, fluffy and delicious. Not too sweet either which I appreciated. My apple cider was decent, great on a cold, late night.
I even took home a Strawberry Earl Grey Scone ($4.95) for breakfast the next day. Amazing, though I didn’t really taste Earl Grey.
This place is great for everyone, be it friends, couples, a (bad or good) first date, an intervention to convince your friend to break up with her bf, a solo late night treat or even a place to design 3D models on your laptop. I promise you, I witnessed it all in my short time here.
I can’t recommend this place enough, the food, the drinks and the vibes are fantastic.

I found this wonderful café when in town for an event. This cozy spot is filled with character (and characters!) and reminds me of my beloved Sweet Revenge dessert café, located in Vancouver, which closed down during COVID.
I ate the grilled cheese w/tomato bisque (fabulous!) and enjoyed a nice iced chai tea latté at an eclectic collection of aged armchairs around a wooden table. The music was great, and the service was super friendly.
What a nice way to start a Saturday!
Plus, they have amazing looking pastries. 🤤 I plan to return tomorrow morning to collect some doughnuts to bring home to my partner and kiddo in Prince George.
I will happily mark this in Google Maps as a spot to return to whenever I visit this city. 📍 Thanks, Fawkes!
