We've been going to Shan Shan Bakery for over 10 years. The pastries are always fresh, consistent, and are among the best in the industry! The prices are lower than most other bakeries, but it doesn't feel like there's any compromise. The owners are always very kind and welcoming.

Pretty good Chinese bakery one cool thing I haven't experienced is eating a BBQ pork filling inside a pineapple bun. Other than that the Chinese baked goods were pretty standard.

Got the egg tart and raisin danish. $1.40 for the egg tart; $3.50 for a 5 pack of day old danish. Overall, nice chill place to get some baked goods. Lots of items I will be coming back for in the future, like the century egg yolk bun.
Egg tart: 8.0
Filling: 7.5. Standard custard filling; just sweet and savoury enough, with a hint of egg.
Crust: 7.9. Good tart shell; decadent but not greasy.
Filling to crust ratio: 10
Raisin danish: 8.3
Dough: 8.1. Nicely moist with a rich, savoury taste; similar to a croissant-dinner roll hybrid.
Raisin to dough ratio: 8.6. Not overly packed with raisins; nicely balanced savouriness with bursts of raisin sweetness. Personally, I would like more raisins but I recognize that the current ratio is more accommodating for people who don’t have a raisin fetish.

I've been here a few times now & it's my favourite bakery in Chinatown. Grab & tray & load it up!
The savoury buns are VERY tasty (try the BBQ pork pun, and the pineapple bun, and the curry bun)
Pastries are excellent too.
And my friend raved about the tarts.
It's cozy, it's local.
Bring cash, it's worth it.
Fill up a big box or 2 & be the star of the party at your next gathering or picnic in the park or brewery visit.

Great Asian bakery. With the closure of Garden Bakery and Hong Kong Bakery in China town it was hard to find a replacement bakery place. The BBQ Pork Puffs are super delicious, filling is brimming full with a great flavour. Their puff is way better than Garden Bakery's ever was. The Long Donut has nice chew and is also delicious. The Pineapple BBQ Pork bun is also a good choice, the mix of sweet and salty satiates the palette. Overall, great bakery and I wish I knew about this place earlier. It is cash only or e-transfer, just bring cash :)
